Gifts from Nature Spring Break Camp April 14th – 18th

For Ages 8-12 – In this wide-ranging class, students will learn how raw materials from the local environment have been made into wearable beads and ornaments, musical instruments and amusements for millennia. Students, will cut, shape and sand natural materials using only stone and bone tools and will make, paint and decorate, ornaments, whistles, bull roarers, games and toys.
Gifts from Nature Camp, 5 days, 3 hours per day: $225 for Residents, $235 for Non-Residents.
Overall class goals and objectives for ALL classes, camps and workshops:
- Learn how prehistoric peoples created a multitude of art and culture items from the natural materials around them.
- Learn how ancestral peoples made the tools and acquired the plant, animal and mineral resources to create art and culture items.
- Learn to appreciate the relationships these ancient peoples had with the natural world around them and how they lived in balance with it.
- Learn the STEM lessons presented from working with the tools and materials.
